My First WHIP night!
In case anyone is getting over-excited at this point, perhaps I should clarify that WHIP stands for Writer Highway In a Pub night, and the very first one was held at the Robin Hood pub in Sherwood on Tuesday 27th of June. And what a fun and thoroughly enjoyable event it was.
It was a great mix of catching up with other members and performing work in a relaxing and safe environment. It was also lovely to see members who might not usually read, feeling comfortable enough to do so. There was a wide variety of work and plenty of breaks to keep the mood relaxed. Cal Lisle, Helen Baron, Sue Forrester, and Sheena Bradley did a great job of making us all feel very welcomed, and Sheena did a masterful job as the compere!
I hope there will be many more WHIP nights in the future, as it ticked all the boxes for me, and judging from the comments of other members, it did so for them also. Thank you for such a great night and I'm looking forward to the next one already!

Whip, whip, hooray! It was a great night, relaxed and fun. Thank you to Cal, Sheena, Helen and Sue. And you didn't need to wear fishnets or bring a whip and a chair... relief!!
