I spotted this call for submissions in the Nottingham Writers Studio newsletter - open to all!
FROM NWS December newsletter
”…It’s coming up to that time of year again (no, not just Christmas, although that's fast approaching too…)
It’s time for another of our NWS collections!
Over the course of a few difficult years, our topics have covered subjects that reflected those more challenging periods in time; ‘The World Outside’, ‘Reflections’, ‘Freedom?’
With our new theme for Spring 2023 we hope to inspire people to write about better times and positive outlooks using the prompt
MY HAPPY PLACE.
You don’t have to be literal, of course; your happy place might well be a concept or a state of mind. As with all our themes, there’s no wrong interpretation!
We’re open to submissions of any genre (prose, poem, memoir) for inclusion in our publication.
The closing date for entries will be 3rd February 2023, which should be sent via email to admin@nottinghamwritersstudio.co.uk and headed ‘MY HAPPY PLACE’
A Few T’s & C’s…
Submissions must be no more than 500 words.
It really helps us out when documents are in standard font (Garamond, Times New Roman, size pt 11) and sent as editable attachments (i.e. Word docs are great, but no pdf’s please!)
We’re requesting a small submission fee of £5 to help support NWS, and cover costs of time spent collating, editing, and designing this release. This can be paid via PayPal quoting “happyplace” as reference (or BACS if you’d prefer. Contact admin for the details)
The publication will be made available as a printed and digital zine in early April 2023.
If you have any further questions about the project, please feel free to email us.
I look forward to reading all the submissions. Happy writing!
Alan (Chair of the Board)”
